“Aria,” Devan said from the other side of the door. “What are you doing in there?”
“Nothing, daddy!”
“Uh huh. I’m coming in now,” he warned. He knew Sophia was just hungry, but it was more fun to accuse Aria of taunting her sister. He found her standing at the bassinet smiling with her hands behind their back. Sophia was wailing at the top of her lungs.
“I love you daddy bye bye!” She hugged him quickly and ran out of the room. He looked at her and shook his head before he scooped poor Sophia into his arms. “Come here, peanut. What did Ari do to you, huh? What did she do,” he cooed as he gave her a bottle.
“She was in here telling you crazy stories? I bet she was. You are going to have so much fun with her.”
When Sophia had enough, she pushed the bottle away, but she still wasn’t happy and began wailing again.
“Whaaaaat? What’s this about?”
He tried shushing her, rocking her, and cuddling her, but he couldn’t bring the wailing down by even one decibel.
“You don’t like me either?”
