Happy Valentine’s Day! I love you all! I do. And, I love Mary. Her life must be so exhausting lol. All that pretense and keeping secrets. It makes me tired just thinking about it lol. She was fun when she was trying to be what we all know “The Joneses” to be, but I think she’s even more fun now that “The Joneses” are no more and she’s trying to make a new life for herself. Some parts of her will never change for they are rooted in insecurities that date all the way back to childhood, but for the most part, I think she’s embracing change quite well. Welcome to the stage, Mary Jones!
- What is your name? Mary Jones
- Do you know why you were named that? Mary is a family name.
- Single or taken? I am divorced.
- Stop being a Mary Sue! I… (sigh) Do people still think that about me? I’m not sure what more I can do to prove to you I am not that way!
- What’s your eye color? Blue
- How about hair color? Blonde
- Have you any family members? Yes, of course I do.
- Oh, how about pets? *eyes widen* Heavens, no! I spend enough time cleaning my house as it is.
- That’s cool, I guess. Now tell me something you don’t like? Messes. I despise messes.
- Do you have any activities/hobbies that you like to do? Hmmm…I find that I lack personal time these days. I used to enjoy doing charitable things and taking my children out for cultural experiences.
- Have you ever hurt anyone in any way before? *sighs* Yes, I realize that now. I was just doing what I thought needed to be done because of my father, but I was destroying my family in the process.
- Ever… killed anyone before? Why would you ask me that?
- What kind of animal are you? Animal? Hmmm…I suppose I could see myself as a lioness. I’m fiercely protective of my family.
- Do you look up to anyone at all? I feel alone in the world a lot.
- Are you straight, gay or bisexual? I am straight.
- Do you go to school? It has been a while since those days.
- Ever want to marry and have kids one day? *sighs* Isn’t that what every girl wants? *clears throat* I do have children. My oldest is Tim, and I have two wonderful daughters named Susie and Phoenix. Their father and I are no longer married. I hope he’ll find someone he can love.
- Do you have fangirls/fanboys? *rolls eyes* I’m sure there are people out there who still scour the Internet for every bit of gossip about me. They should find better things to do with their time.
- What are you most afraid of? I’m not sure anymore. Everything I used to be afraid of has happened. The surprising thing has been everything I imagined would happen did not. I don’t know…maybe…perhaps living in fear is a waste of energy.
- What do you usually wear? First impressions are very important. I like to dress as the highly respectable woman that I am. That is the only impression I want to give.
- What’s one food that tempts you? You’re not publishing this are you? *looks over shoulder* I adore fruitcake! It’s soo terrible for you, but I love it.
- Am I annoying you? No. Oh dear, have I made you feel that way? I’m sorry! I don’t know what I keep doing that upsets everyone.
- Well, it’s not over! Oh…well, all right then.
- What class are you (low class, middle class, high class)? *panics and clears throat* Well, I…I don’t quite know anymore. May we move on?
- How many friends do you have? I’ve never been one to have many friends. In school, I was constantly surrounded by people, but they weren’t really friends. Just people who either I had to hang with or people who wanted to hang with me because of who I was. Now, I have one friend, Asia. Oh, the new neighbor, Leah, is quite lovely too.
- What are your thoughts on pie? *smiles* Our housekeeper used to make the best apple pies. *lowers head* I haven’t thought of her in a while. I hope she was able to–I’m digressing. *clears throat* Please continue.
- Favorite drink? Love Potion #5.
- What’s your favorite place? I’m not quite sure. Around the dinner table with my children, perhaps.
- Are you interested in anyone? *panics* No. *clears throat* There’s no one. W-what makes you think there is? *flashes The Mary™*
- That was a stupid question. *breathes sigh of relief* Well…no need to beat yourself up about it…
- Would you rather swim in a lake or the ocean? The ocean, I suppose. I don’t have much experience with lakes. Well except–nevermind. Do you have more questions?
- What’s your type? *eyes widen* M-my type? *thinks for quite a while* I suppose I haven’t had many opportunities to develop a type. I was married immediately after high school until recently. I never… *clears throat* My interests were always with my husband.
- Any fetishes? *panics* I find your questions a bit odd…and very specific. Are you sure you’re not feeding my answers to…to someone?
- Camping or indoors? A little of both. Camping in a cabin in the woods can be romantic. *clears throat* But, it’s also a better way to enjoy the outdoors without being in the elements and eaten by insects.
Mary has become one of my favorites!
Yay! I love her.
Sweet Mary .. I think that even tho Eliza is my heart’s alter ego, I empathize with Mary the most!
Yeah, I do too. She has serious stuff going on in her life even though a lot of the mess was created by her.
Yep .. and she weathers the storm no matter who caused the tempest
So true! I was thinking about her a little while ago, and she really does do well with challenges!
Oh, Mary, you are awesome. I despise messes, too. haha I just love her.
Ha ha! I despise messes too, but sometimes I can’t be bothered to clean them LOL.
LOL I know how that is
Okay, I’ve been avoiding asking, but now I need to know. What is a Mary Sue? All of these Sims are responding to it in humorous ways, but is that a real thing or is it just one of those random things someone throws in to see how people will react?
Mary is hilarious, and clearly still has a lot of secrets to hide. I guess we’ll see if she’s able to finally relax a little as more time passes.
I had to look it up too before I began answering the questions. So, Mary Sue is a trope, apparently. It’s that extremely nice and super perfect character who never does anything wrong…and it’s kind of annoying.
Oh yes, Mary will always have a few things she wants to keep close to the vest. She’s a bit more relaxed now because previously she wouldn’t have admitted to knowing she destroyed her family. She as a long way to go though.
How funny that the Mary Sue trope is so fitting of Mary, lol.
Right? At least she now recognizes she has actually done something wrong though she still tries to act like everything is perfect lol.
See now that’s an interesting point. I never knew before if she was being willfully ignorant, or if she knew but refused to admit it, or if she really was oblivious to the effect she had on her family.
Maybe a little of all 3 in different scenarios? Overall, I’d say she was oblivious. Of course she recognized that they weren’t happy a lot, but with Susie she really did not understand why. With John, I think she just saw things differently and maybe didn’t communicate very well. She had directives from her father to become this huge socialite, and that’s what she did. In that regard, she probably didn’t understand why John would be resistant when he knows how her father is. On the other hand, I’d say she was ignorant there too because she never took the time to see things from his perspective. So many layers!
Mary is a layered lady, so all of this makes perfect sense to me. I’m glad she’s doing more reflection now, even if she’s not open about it to the world yet.
Agreed.
