Around dinner time one evening, the Pruetts received an unexpected visitor. It was Eliza. Seeing as how she recently gave birth as well (and another reason), Asia was surprised to find her on their doorstep.
“Eliza! What are you doing here? You should be home with the baby!”
“She’s in good hands with Robert. He’s taken to her quite well. Besides, I knew you would be busy with Kolby and the new baby, so I thought I’d come to you.”
“Well…that’s very kind of you,” Asia said. “Come in! I’ll get you two introduced.”
Eliza followed Asia up the stairs and into the nursery. She never actually had seen their upstairs before and thought it was nice. Kaiden was awake. Asia picked him up and cradled him.
“Here’s my wittle bubby wubby,” she said her baby babble voice. “Ohhhh you’re such a cutesy wootsy wittle thing! Say hi to Ms. Eliza. Say ‘my name is Kaiden!’”
Asia continued cooing over her son while Eliza watched the spectacle. She thought baby talk was ridiculous, but she couldn’t help how well Kaiden responded to it.
“Another son, huh? Too bad,” Eliza said. Internally she was gloating. She had what Asia wanted.
“No, don’t say that. We’ll just try again until we get her! So…tell me about your little one.”
“Well, her name is Breann—
“Oh Eliza! You have a daughter? How nice!”
“Yes, well…she’s more nice when she’s not screaming like a banshee, but that’ll be over soon enough, right?”
Asia shook her head. “Don’t wish away the baby days, Eliza! You’ll miss them when they age up. It’s nice that they can potty and feed themselves, but they get so independent so fast! You’ll miss holding her like this.”
Asia really needed to get dinner started, so she put Kaiden back in the bassinet. She looked at Eliza who looked like she was actually listening to what she was saying. She could only imagine how much her world changed since becoming a mother…and how much she would have to change to get it right. Yet and still, differences aside, Asia was proud of her.
“Oh Eliza,” she embraced her. “You’re a mom now! I know we don’t always agree, but I hope you know that I’m here for you,” Asia continued. “Us moms have to stick together you know!”
For just a moment, Eliza was a wee bit choked up. It was one thing when Eliza simply wanted to be in the mom club, but to be met with genuine support and love? She was not expecting that. It touched her and she didn’t know why.
“I appreciate that, Asia.”
“You know what this means, right?”
“What’s that?”
“It’ll be time for another one soon!”
“I beg your pardon? No. One is enough for us.”
“I’m not sure Bob will agree. You know what they say… If you have one, you’ll have two!” That tickled her immensely.
“Ok, I think I’ve had enough ‘mommy bonding’ for one day. Enjoy your dinner,” Eliza said as she exited the room.
“I’m just saying,” Asia called after her. “You’re gonna love this mommy thing!”
Oh Eliza, gloating that she has what Asia wants! It’s kinda cool she got choked up over the hug though. Could she possibly change? Naw.
HA! Well…not in public lol.
Which house is in the rotation next?
The Joneses!!! 😀 I haven’t started writing theirs yet, but I can’t wait. I actually need to finish playing out their week.
The only thing that sucks about doing this as a weekly rotation is that we’ll miss stuff! Like, we won’t get to see Eliza deal with her daughter until she’s a child. Oh well. Maybe it’ll be for the best lol.
I wouldn’t be able to stand not popping into the house and taking pics, lol.
Well…I did pop over there once because I couldn’t stand not knowing if it was a boy or girl and what the name was!
C’mon Eliza, bring up whatever shred of maternal instinct and empathy you have!
*note to self: find these shreds of empathy and maternal instinct they speak of
😛
I see her doing that
I can hear Eliza’s thoughts. “Just when I was feeling acceptance in this darn mommy’s club, now you’re telling me I’ll need to have another because otherwise I’m just the mom who stopped at one and left my child lonely and alone?! Moving forward, I should definitely steer all future conversations towards being a mother to a DAUGHTER, so she can see what it feels like.”
HA! I love this!
Lol I love their relationship! And this may not happen often, but I agree with Eliza about baby talk! I never talk to babies with baby talk lol and for some reason they love me!
I’m with ya there! I talk to babies and children like I talk to adults…and they love it! lol
Bahahahahaa – I flipping love ASIA she handles the Cray in Eliza so well!!!
She SO does!
Eliza…I still can’t picture your Eliza as a mom. She’s so annoying to me. I mean, she’s softened…but still nosey.
I’m still trying to get used to her as a mom too. She’s kinda weird now lol.
C’mon Eliza, gloating? =p Asia is just too sweet!
We couldn’t have Eliza any other way, now could we? 😛
Is it too soon to start shipping SD and Kaiden? 😉 Hehehehehehehe This was a cute chapter. 😀
HA!!
AWWW so glad to see them friends again
Yeah…Asia can’t hold a grudge long.
