It was Saturday morning, and time was up. It was decision time. Brandon was awake extremely early and didn’t sleep well at all. He was wrestling with Bianca’s advice all night. When he got up to make breakfast, he was still undecided. He could have gone either way. Allen heard his father up and about and decided to get up and talk with him.
“So…it’s Saturday,” Allen said.
“Sure is.”
“Do you know what you’re doing?”
“When I come home with or without her, you’ll know.”
“So…pretty much, you don’t know.”
“Why are you so talkative at six in the morning?”
He continued making spinach frittatas for everyone and ignored Allen for the rest of the morning. It was like he had a whole jury in his head, weighing evidence and replaying deliberations. He just wished they would hurry up and make a ruling.
It was still too early to visit anyone, so meandered throughout the house in search of something to do. Finally, he decided that 8:30 was a good time and left the house.
He knocked on the door, and she let him in. She was so beautiful to him, and he missed her face. She missed him too, and seeing him again after seven days made her temporarily forget why she was in this house in the first place.
“Brandon! It’s been too long.”
“Ok…ok…I missed seeing you too,” he said trying to maintain focus.
He pulled away from her and brought things back to the center.
“Ok. It’s been seven days. Where do we stand?”
At that moment, he was still unsure. He pulled a clever trick out of his sleeve.
“You first,” he said.
“Ok. Well, like I said…I missed you…and the boys terribly. I wanted to call and check on them so many times, but I didn’t want to blow our cover story….”
“They’re very smart boys, Amira. They knew it was a sham.”
“Oh. I feel silly now.”
“Anyway…go on.”
“As much as I wanted to be in my own house, in my own bed…with you…I actually kind of enjoyed my time away.”
“Enjoyed it like you needed a mom vacation and you’re refreshed now, or enjoyed it like…you never want it to end?”
“I’m not going to say that I never want it to end, but…I enjoyed myself,” she said casually.
“Heh, she enjoyed herself,” he snorted. “So, what did you do with your time?”
“I went out…met people…had drinks…it was like a real vacation!”
“You went out and fun all week while I was at home in mental anguish?? I was getting advice from my DEAD sister while you were getting drunk and flirting with everyone??”
“What did you expect me to do, Brandon? Sit in here and cry every night?”
“I expected you to do what you say you’re going to do! You were here because we needed some alone time to think! How do you expect to make an important decision like this if you don’t sit down long enough to think it through?? GOSH…I hate it when that boy is right!”
“What boy? Right about what?”
“Your son, Allen! He said I think you’re a rose and I cut you from the bush, put you in a vase, and I water you in hopes that you’ll stay alive. But you’re not a rose. You’re a wildflower! You don’t function well in vases, do you? You just want to be free!”
“He said that about me??”
“Like I said…you have two highly intelligent and very observant sons, both of whom will be young adults by the end of tonight. They can take care of themselves, and they don’t need their mommy anymore. I’m leaving you here…seeing as how that’s what you want.”
“Are we getting divorced then?”
“You don’t need a divorce. I’ll be dead by tomorrow.”
YIKES!!!
Well, first, I laughed at the whole “why are you so talkative at 6am” line.
But woah! Brandon! My heart is sad for him.
I think he was ok. He just needed a catalyst to do it…and he definitely got it! It hurt a little though.
“You don’t need a divorce. I’ll be dead by tomorrow.”
That’s a shady, plumming line. Wow. Kudos!
Thanks!
WOAH. Just woah.
I literally just did the ‘surprised sim’ face irl when I read the last line.
Oh, Brandon. You needy woofum. lol
Give the gold digga a chance to give you an answer. But then again, knowing this family and how clingy they are. This little rush to judgment is not at all surprising.
Oh that last lone. Ouch. I hurt for Brandon.
Dead tomorrow??!!
Yeah. I’m terrible with keeping up with how old everyone is.
No!!!!! Brandon not yet!! I’m not ready to lose another Pruett heir so soon!!!
I loved the you’ll know when I come home with her or not. Line. Haha!!
lol, I liked that one too. Did NOT like how old Brandon was at the end of their week!!
Totally agree!!! /dislike
Oh goodness, Brandon is so embittered! “You don’t need a divorce, I’ll be dead by tomorrow”… Yikes! He can’t die as an old, sad man! Amira, you’re so selfish! If you do like him in any way make sure the end of his life becomes a bit sweeter than the last week. I don’t care how, but just so it!
