3D – The Pruett Sisters

Although Maya was hanging with the Pruett Cousins Crew less and less, she made time for her little sister. She often did her homework in Aubrey’s room; she liked it in there. Perhaps it reminded her of the childhood she left behind. Aubrey was an independent girl and always found ways to occupy her time, so when Maya began to be absent around the house she wasn’t impacted much. But she did always appreciate Maya’s company and never complained about her taking over her room.

Maya still had not told anyone about her feelings for Anthony and was under the impression that they thought he was still her bff. Well, he was, but of course she wanted more than that. However, her sister was smart and had already figured out what was going on.

“So…” Aubrey said. “You and Anthony are a thing now?

Maya briefly paused her homework as she was taken by surprise, but she didn’t want to give herself away. “A thing? What are you talking about?”

“Mayaaaaa,” Aubrey sang, “You know what I’m talking about.”

“Nope. Not a clue.”

“Come ooooon,” Aubrey whined. “I see you making googley eyes at him in school. I’m not stupid you know.”

“I didn’t say you were.”

“So?”

Maya sighed. “Fine! No, we’re not a thing… At least not yet.”

“Oooooh! Tell me tell me tell me!” Aubrey was bouncing on her bed and clapping her hands like a happy toddler.

Maya rolled her eyes. “You’re such a dweeb. So, ok…I keep dropping hints, but he won’t budge! They’re not even hints anymore. Last week I asked him if he wanted to kiss me, and he said no!”

“Oh. Sorry. Maybe he’s not ready?”

“Maybe, I dunno. It’s just…frustrating.”

“What is?”

“Boys.”

Maya heard Aubrey’s text notification. “Who’s that?”

“Uhhh, no one.”

“Liar.”
