3D: Pruett Family Memorial Park

After waiting for permits and licenses, the day finally arrived when Jonathan was able to show his family what he and Julio worked so hard and long to produce. A grand opening was on the calendar, but discovering the park alongside the public wasn’t right. The property had deep meaning for their family, and they needed a moment to digest it together.

The summer heat was relentless. As luck would have it, Jonathan chose the hottest day of the year for an outdoor adventure. No matter how soul crushing the humidity was, the tour would go on come Grim or high water! The excitement surged through his body as he hurried toward the front yard. At last, Maya and Aubrey would visit their old family home!

“Well, here we are! What do you think?”

“It looks different,” Maya said.

Jonathan grinned and nodded. “This was the style before we remodeled. I decided the architecture should look how people remember it. So, we chose the original style.”

“I think it’s wonderful, Jonathan.”

“That sign over there has information about the construction, amenities, hours … Stuff like that. We put signs all over explaining what certain things are and how they’re related to us. This whole thing … It’s more than just a park. It’s a history lesson.”

Before going inside, they checked out the play area and grounds in the front. Jonathan hadn’t been there with the landscaping done. As he walked and surveyed everything, he beamed and nodded approvingly.

A blast of chilled air met them at the front door, and they all breathed sighs of relief. His skin felt three shades darker already.

“This is the original foyer, mostly.” He snickered at a memory. “When I was a young knucklehead, one night I went out with my boys on a school night. I got back home at, like, 2:30 in the morning three sheets to the wind. My parents were up waiting for me right here.”

Skyla shook her head at him. Did she have any idea how much he needed someone like her? She changed him forever.

“You were a mess, daddy,” Aubrey said with a little snark.

“Yes. Yes, I was. Then I met your mother.” He winked at Skyla. “Maya, you haven’t seen this before.”

“Nope. What is it?”

This used to signify our legacy status; every legacy family has one. Back when everything happened, I thought I was a failure because Tony stole this from us. Once I accepted we wouldn’t get our life back, I had to learn that people can attempt to change how the world sees us, but they can never change who we are.”

“That’s really beautiful, Daddy,” Maya replied.

“Yeah, that was nice,” Aubrey said stiffly.

Getting Aubrey to take an afternoon off was more of a chore than he expected. Why couldn’t she just relax and enjoy a leisurely afternoon? As long as it had been open, J. Pruett’s Grill should have been at a place where it could run itself. If she didn’t trust her employees to do what needed to be done while she was away, that was an issue she should nip in the bud at once.

The art gallery was across the hall from the entrance, and he was uber excited to show it off. “This is another original room. Our family had many painters. These are all my great aunt Alayna’s masterpieces!”

Maya gasped. “There’s even an unfinished one!”

“Yeah, isn’t that something? If we sold these, we would make a killing. But, they belong with the house, I think.”

“That’s right, Jonathan.”

“With proper security, I think they will be ok here.”

They spilled into the hallway as Jonathan explained all the bathrooms were the original ones from the main level of the house. Nothing from upstairs was salvaged.

“This is one of the oldest rooms in the house! It’s been around since generation five! Originally, it was an office, but we took the electronics out. Now it’s a reading room.”

“Wow,” Maya said. “How do you know all of this, Daddy?”

“The family history got passed down from heir to heir. We called it the ‘heir talk.’ Remember when I told you about generation eight? When my grandpa became the heir? Uncle Owen didn’t care about the family stuff, so Alayna took it upon herself to become the Pruett family expert. Good thing too because my grandpa didn’t care to study the family either because he was a spare. After my dad’s teen birthday, grandpa took him to Alayna’s house to learn the family history together. And then, when I was a teenager, my dad told me.”

Aubrey picked up a book. “Who is Aiden Pruett?”

“Ohhh.” He closed his eyes and shuffled information around his head. “He was one of the early heirs. Let’s see … Xavier … his messy son … Right! He’s the generation 3 heir.”

Maya beamed. “The messy one?”

He laughed and ushered them out of the room. “That’s a tale for another day, my dear.”

“Daddy! You can bring up tea like that and not spill it!”

“Another time, Maya.”

The scandal was responsible for the drama that went down between him and Tony, and that was not the day to rehash it.

The courtyard was one of two elements from the remodel which remained, and Jonathan considered it the pièces de résistance. He turned it into a wedding venue.

“Here she is. This is what I’m really excited about.”

Aubrey had been quiet and still uptight. The situation begged for fun at her expense. “It’s a shame our first family wedding won’t be here.”

“Isn’t it beautiful, Aubrey? Can’t you see yourself standing there with Julio in your white dress?”

“Jonathan,” Skyla said in her mom voice. Sometimes he forgot she had it. “Behave.”

He chuckled. “Yes, Mom. Ok, last room.”

These are your mother’s paintings.”

Maya gasped again. Aubrey’s eyes finally lit up. Skyla blushed.

“Think of this like a green room. It‘s available only with the courtyard.”

“It’s so pretty,” Maya said.

“I saw my wife helping my two daughters get dressed on their wedding days in here, but … Well, we can’t always get what we want, huh?”

Aubrey sighed heavily and rolled her eyes. Maya looked uncomfortable. Skyla … Well, she was about to let him have it. “Stop this, Jonathan! Are you trying to make her feel bad?”

Oh no. He went to far. “I wasn’t … I was just–“

“We’re going to Greece to have a beautiful wedding, and you will love it!”

“I’m sorry, Aubrey. I’m really am. I was just having some fun. In poor taste, obviously. I’m sorry. Please, forgive me.”

“It’s cool. Can we see the rest now?” she asked dismissively.

Maybe it wasn’t the restaurant stressing her. Jonathan didn’t always run on all cylinders and could have smacked himself when he realized what it was. She was getting married. Duh! Wedding planning stressed out most women, and she planned one in another country.

At Aubrey’s request, Jonathan got on with the tour.

“Daddy! This is great,” Maya shouted. “I want to get married here!”

“Great! There are definitely enough seats for you to invite both families and most of your friends!”

Skyla grinned. “Is there wedding talk going on, pumpkin?”

“No. But, he’s the only person I want to marry.”

Skyla caressed Maya’s arm. “That’s so special. I’m sure he feels the same way. Don’t let it worry you.”

“I’m not worried.”

“How’s everyone doing with the heat?” Jonathan asked.

Once the ladies agreed they were ok, they circled the building to get to the backyard.

“Remember this, girls?”

“The pool,” Maya shouted. She was so excitable. “I wish I could take a dip right now.”

Aubrey agreed.

Julio suggested all the fountains and statues and things. He said it made it look more like a park.”

Skyla nodded. “They’re a nice touch.”

“Now, these aren’t the original lilies, but the plaque explains how the Pruett’s wealth was built on lilies appreciating over the years. Then, of course, our family plot…”

“Jonathan, you did such a wonderful job on this place. I hope you’re proud of yourself.”

“I am now.”

“Yeah,” Aubrey said finally. “You and Julio outdid yourselves.”

“Thanks, hon. We couldn’t have done it without your idea.”

Maya embraced him. “Thanks for showing this to us, Daddy. It was so cool.”

“It was a pleasure. I couldn’t wait for you guys to see it.”

The support of his wife and daughters empowered him to do whatever he set his mind to. Everything was possible with them on his side.

Hello! I hope you enjoyed the park tour! Here are a few things I want you to know about it. For story purposes, Owen “destroyed” the garden back in gen 8. But, in real life, I put all the flowers in the household inventory. Y’all know I couldn’t actually delete Xavier’s flowers!! So, the flowers Jonathan has in his yard, and the flowers in this park, are THE flowers from 10 generations ago!

I also want you to know that you can download the park and add it to your game! You’re welcome! It has quite a bit of cc in it, but feel free to download it vanilla and make it your own. Here is a list of cc items you’ll need:

Rustic Romance Stuff by The Plumbob Tea Society (most of this pack was used)

Atwood Dining by Peacemaker (wall light)

Ghost Wood Floors by Lina-Cherie

Simple Wall Paper by Praline Sims

I think you need to turn on MOO before placing it. It’s been a while since I made this lol. If you have any problems downloading or adding to your game, let me know!
