Maya’s bladder was on the verge of explosion while speaking with Vik. She wasn’t a fan of public bathrooms and had never been so desperate to get home. Before she could breathe a sigh of relief atop the porcelain throne, someone else who was equally as desperate burst in with an urgent need to speak with her.
“Aubrey get out!”
“Maya, I need your help,” her little sister shouted.
“Ok… Get out!”
“Maya pleeeeeeeease!”
“I’m peeing, Aubrey!”
“Ok, but I need you!”
“I’m not gonna pee any faster with you standing there!”
Whatever was bothering her was written all over her face. She looked like she was in trouble. Whatever it was, Aubrey was not leaving the bathroom without her sister. Realizing this, Maya growled in annoyance and finished her business.
“This better be good,” she shouted while washing her hands.
As soon as Maya dried her hands, her body was being dragged into Aubrey’s room.
“Hey! What gives?? Geez!”
The door slammed behind them.
“I’m so screwed,” Aubrey whined.
Maya took a deep, calming breath. “What is it?”
“I’m so screwed! Daddy wants to meet Julio!”
“Ah HA! The mystery so-called best friend has a name now!”
“Mayaaaaa! This isn’t funny!”
“Ok, ok. So, what happened?”
“We’re going to the prom on Saturday, and daddy said he wants to meet him! Once he learns what his last name is, he’s gonna freak! What if he doesn’t let me go? What if he says we can’t be friends anymore? THIS SUCKS, MAYA!”
“Hmmm… That does suck. Well…maybe just offer up as little information as possible. Like, when he says, ‘what’s your name, son,’ you speak before he does and just say Julio.”
Aubrey groaned. “This is bad, Maya! This is really really bad! And I don’t even know why!”
I don’t think Jonathan will freak out like they think he will, at least I’m hoping he won’t.
I hope he won’t either
Just how much does she know about this history between their fathers?
She knows absolutely nothing! That’s what’s so frustrating about it. The only thing she knows is that they wouldn’t want them to be friends. That may or may not change in the future. 😀
Perhaps it won’t be as bad as she thinks. Tony is dead. He was Jonathan’s best friend for a while. Maybe for the memory of their friendship he could be at least somewhat happy to meet his son. Just maybe. For the sake of Aubrey whom I’m starting to like a little more than Maya. 🙂
Maybe! We’ll see soon! Very soon.
