“You’re eating my food,” Jonathan joked. “Are you sick?”
“Daddy…”
He loved messing with his youngest about cooking when there was plenty of food in the fridge. He also loved how determined she was to improve her cooking skills at the expense of cooking her own meals. She was busy texting with someone as he took the seat next to her and wondered who it was…and if it was a boy.
After experiencing the drama in Maya and Juliana’s lives, he promised himself he would be more cautious about pushing his daughters out into the dating pool. But, he couldn’t help but be excited about this time in their lives. He recalled how vibrant life was and how alive he felt after he met Skyla back in high school. It was a feeling he wanted everyone to experience.
As excited as he was for his daughters, he could not toss aside the protective father hat and made a point to assert himself a bit more even if it made him less popular with them. To be honest, he didn’t want to have to do that, and it made him nervous. But, he didn’t want any more drama for his girls, and if protecting them meant he would lose cool points…so be it.
He cleared his throat. “Who are you talking to?”
He knew he had caught her by surprise when she stopped chewing.
“Uhh…” She swallowed and also cleared her throat. “A friend? Yeah, a friend.”
He chuckled. “Is that the truth?”
Her eyebrows furled and eyes went wide. “Yes?”
He snorted. “You don’t sound very confident, Aubrey.”
“It’s my BFF,” she asserted.
He took a few more bites of his food before continuing. “You know I know it’s a boy, right? Is that what you’re nervous about?”
She seemed to relieve some air out of her chest. “Yeah…kinda.”
He laughed and shook his head at her. “Why? You know I want you two to date…but I also want you to be careful.”
“I know, daddy.”
“Are you going to the prom with him?”
Skyla joined them for breakfast, and Aubrey didn’t seem to appreciate the audience or the questions anymore, but she maintained a half-baked smile.
“Yes, he’s my date.”
“Cool! I want to meet him. Tell him to pick you up at the house.”
“…wait, what?”
Jonathan is such a ‘cool-Dad’ LOL. By the way, Aubrey kinda resembles one of Maia and Michael’s kids. 🙂
Ooooh! Gorgeous kid then. Well…they can’t have anything but gorgeous kids.
Ooooh, see? This is what I was just talking about. I can’t wait to see his reaction when he finds out who her BFF/prom date is.
he he he, I think I’ll write that chapter tonight now that I’ve got the Juliana one out of the way.
I suppose they don’t know him. She could still introduce him only with his first name. She may be lucky and they get used to him before they learn he’s Corleonesi. XD
Nope they don’t know him! She could get lucky…or not! Lol
Lol … this should be good
Ohhhh yes!
